PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING PFAS TESTING RESULTS AND WATER QUALITY
FROM: CINDY MURRAY, GENERAL MANAGER
EVERGREEN WATER & SEWER DISTRICT
The District has recently completed voluntary PFAS testing on all of its water source locations more than 6 months in advance of the required date by EPA.
- We performed early testing to address concerns raised after the City of Kalispell test results documented PFAS levels above the MCL (“Maximum Contaminant Level”) in a City well located within ½ mile of District wells.
- The District does not receive any water from the City.
We are happy to announce that all sources tested are either totally “non-detect” or are below the extremely low PFAS limits set by EPA. Based on the testing completed, the District is confident that its water supply (including the two new wells being developed) does not contain PFAS in concentrations that exceed the new EPA standards.
- We will closely follow the City’s efforts to address PFAS and will continue to test our water supplies as required by EPA and Montana DEQ.
The District provides safe, reliable, and cost-effective drinking water for its customers and the Evergreen community.
- Safe: All recent test results, including the PFAS testing, document that the District’s drinking water supply is safe.
- Reliable: We are completing more than 6 million dollars in federal and state funded projects to improve the reliability of our water systems and drinking water supplies.
- Cost Effective: The District strives to deliver water and services cost-effectively from the aquifer to your water faucet. We have the second lowest water rates in the Flathead Valley.
We will continue to provide updates as more information is available.
- Updates are posted on our website at evergreenwaterdistrict.com or follow us on Facebook.
- The City of Kalispell has detailed information about their plans to address PFAS issues in the Drinking Water Notice link found on the Public Works page of the City’s website.
