Lead and Copper Letters
November 27, 2024
Lead and Copper Notification Standard EPA Letter
Dear Customers,
Everyone has or will be receiving a Lead and Copper notification letter in the mail. The letter is a form letter sent by the EPA to Water and Sewer Districts across the country to provide general information about private service lines. Although the letter sounds alarming, the District already performs yearly Lead and Copper tests on its water. The results of those test are always well below the maximum contaminant levels allowed by the EPA.
Nevertheless, the District is working on a replacement plan for those private service lines which may contain lead. Since the EPA has not yet supplied the District with testing or testing requirements, the District's first step will be to update its records about customers' service lines.
The District will begin contacting customers in the near future to determine whether their service lines are made of plastic/pvc, galvanized steel, copper, or another material. The first customers to be contacted will be those whose houses were built before 1980. If you already know the material of your service lines, please feel free to contact us to update your file.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we update our records and comply with the new EPA Lead and Copper regulations.
Please go to the Forms and Reports Tab and then hit All Forms and it will be at the top as a fillable PDF. You can print it and bring it in our email it to info@evergreenwaterdistrict.com.
